On September 14th, Leonardo Borsacchi represented ARCO and the University of Florence at the 19th IGWT Symposium “Commodity Science In Research And Practice – Current Achievements And Future Challenges” organized in Cracow (Poland) by Polish Society of Commodity Science, Cracow University of Economics, International Society of Commodity Science and Technology. The Symposium was attended by 180 academics from 15 countries, including Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Germany, Italy, Israel, Japan, Korea, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.

In particular, during the session “Towards quality – management systems and solutions” Leonardo Borsacchi presented the paper “Fostering the compliance of production processes in areas with high incidence of ethnic entrepreneurship: the creation of a check-up tool in Prato industrial district” written with Mario Biggeri and Andrea Ferrannini. The paper describes the elaboration of a check-list with regulatory requirements of different management areas (safety on workplaces, environmental management, employment contracts, taxation, hygiene), able to take into account the specific cultural and ethnic traits of foreign entrepreneurs working in Prato. The experimentation of this integrated tool for investigation and firms’ check-up confirmed it can also serve as support towards the compliance of productive processes with mandatory legislation and the promotion of quality and ethics along value chains.

The paper was also included in the publication “Towards quality – management systems and solutions” edited by Tadeusz Sikora, Joanna Dziadkowiec.
