ARCO Lab at the 2nd World Forum on Local Economic Development

Prof. Mario Biggeri, Scientific Director of ARCO Lab, participated at the 2nd World Forum on Local Economic Development, which was held in Foz Do Iguaçu between the 29th October – 1st November.

More than 4200 people among technical officers and politicians, local actors, representatives of the various levels of Government, institutions that promote and support local development, private sector and international organizations coming from 67 countries participated at the Forum.
The main objective of the II World Forum of Local Economic Development was to facilitate dialogue and exchanges between local, national and international actors, on the efficiency and impact of local economic development in tackling current challenges through existing practices.

Prof. Mario Biggeri was one of the four members of the Forum’s Scientific Committee, contributing to the scientific debate and to the elaboration of the Final Declaration.
In addition, he presented the experience of ARCO Lab during the panel session of “Universities as promoter of Local Economic Development”, which was attended by more than 80 people.

The Forum was organised by:

  • ITAIPU Binacional – ITAIPU Technological Park;
  • SEBRAE (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service);
  • Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI);
  • United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG);
  • Forum of regional governments and global associations of regions (FOGAR);
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the ART Initiative.
