ARCO lab and Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence (YSBCUF) are starting a study about Third Sector and social businesses activities existing in the Province of Pistoia.
This is part of a multi-years program, “Pistoia Social Business City”, that acts at local and provincial level and aims to create a connection between local, national and international actors in order to promote and support the spread of Social Businesses and Social Innovation. The program officially started the last 11th july and it is supported by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio Pistoia e Pescia and Fondazione Un Raggio di Luce Onlus.
The research’s aim is to analyse functions and roles of social businesses and Third Sector organizations in the province of Pistoia, trying to investigate the services they offer, social needs they solve and, above all, their impact on the local community.

This study will involve more than 250 Pistoia’s organizations including voluntary associations, social promotion associations and social cooperatives (both type A and type B).
The YSBCUF will administer every organization a questionnaire about: type of management, activities and legal framework, economic and financial sustainability, the capabilities of producing social innovation, solving collective problems and creating a collaborative network with public and private actors.
Collected data will be used also for other studies about social economy of this Province. They will be available also for the Centre’s partners working in this research.
