On the April 19th 2016, our researcher Federico Ciani flew back to Palestine in order to fulfil a new 10 days mission. Thanks to the strong knowledge of the local dynamics and to the good connections with the stakeholders developed during the previous fieldwork activities, ARCO has been selected to take part to a new Emancipatory Research project in collaboration with EducAid Onlus and the University of Birzeit.

This mission has the aim of training local disable people organisations to monitor CRPD implementation in the West Bank through the use of participatory methods ARCO tailored for this project. The objective of the research is to improve the skills of the participating DPOs as concerns the production of knowledge on the condition of persons with disabilities in Palestine. Moreover, the activities aim to foster the DPOs involvement and engagement in the research in order to create a common network in the West Bank area.

ARCO’s mission represents a first step in the perspective of the realisation of a shadow report on the overall implementation of the CRPD in Palestine. Our researcher Federico Ciani will facilitate the overall process of Emancipatory Research through the implementation of trainings and group works leading to the co-creation of a research protocol focused on right to education for persons with disabilities.
