    Professor Mario Biggeri was invited to participate to the event “The Durum Wheat Value Chain in Ethiopia”, that will be held on July the 8th, within Expo 2015.
    The event, organised by the General Directorate for Development Cooperation (DGCS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), together with the Overseas Agronomic Institute of Florence (IAO), will be an important opportunity to present the development project on Agricultural Value Chians in Oromia (Ethiopia). ARCO Lab has been in charge for the evaluation of the project and led data collection and analysis.
    The project, implemented within the framework of the “Growth and Transformation Plan 2010 – 2015”, represents a best practice in the collaboration between Italy and Ethiopia, aimed at fostering a fast industrialization of Ethiopia starting from the transformation of the agricultural productive system.
    During the workshop, several issues will be addressed:
    • New demands in food commodities on the national and international markets;
    • The role of the collective action as a possible strategy to help small producers in satisfying the demand;
    • The seed value chain;
    • The empowerment of small producers towards active participation;
    • Future private-public partnerships.
