Seminar “Development Cooperation: new paths and new challenges” in Novoli

On March 25th 2014,  at Polo delle Scienze Sociali, Università of Florence  a seminar organized by ActionAid Italia, Comune di Firenze, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Laboratorio ARCO and AUCS (Associazione Universitaria Cooperazione allo Sviluppo).

During the event “ Development Cooperation: new paths and new challenges” ActionAid Italia presented its report “Italy and the fight against poverty in the world” written with the collaboration of Laboratorio ARCO.

In the first part of the event the students attended a conference held by the Plenipotentiary Minister Paolo Venier, Luca De Fraia (Deputy Secretary General ActionAid), Michela Gaito (ActionAid referent for Florence), professor Mario Biggeri and professor Giovanni Scotto (University of Florence).

The focus of the conference was on the Italian policies for Development Cooperation and, at the end of it, there was an open debate with the students on the present situation and some possible future horizons.

The second part was composed by three different workshops: the first one on the main features of the Italian aid, the second one on the role of biofuel and energetic policies in the fight against famine and the last one on the role of advocacy and campaigning offices in the activities of NGOs.
