On December 16th a group of selected experts and key informants from Italian political institutions, private and public organizations and NGOs attended a workshop organized by ARCO at the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in order to collectively discuss about the Chinese presence and influence in Sub-Saharan Africa and its effects for Italian policies.

During the workshop, our research on the features and trends characterizing Chinese presence in Africa was presented by Prof. Mario Biggeri and Guang Yang, leading to a successful discussion on the consequences for Italian public, private and social organizations taking into account our strengths and weaknesses.

Indeed, such full shared and analytic understanding is necessary in order to provide decision-making suggestions on strategies and actions regarding Italian foreign policy, development cooperation and foreign direct investment.

A final report of this research and workshop will be soon released and provided by ARCO to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
