Mario Biggeri is Associate Professor in Development Economics at the University of Florence, Department of Economics since November 2006. He has been President of the MSc in Advanced Development Economics for several years and he is currently member of the PhD in Politics and Economics of Developing Countries, member of the Committee of the professors of undergraduate degree in Development Economics and International Co-operation, member of the Executive Council of the Faculty of Economics. He also worked with UNICEF and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He is also scientific director of ARCO and since 2004 coordinator of the thematic group of Children of the Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA). His research activities are on Child Poverty and Wellbeing, Capabilities Approach, International Aid and Cooperation, Community Based Organization of the Poor and Collective Action, Disability studies, Informal Economy Upgrading and Clusters of Small and Medium Enterprises, Local Development.
